New-York-Fashion-Week-SS16-X-StreetScout.Me-25

We’ve had a full stretch of sun and spring actually feels like it has arrived. In Vancouver, spring is just a less-colder version of winter. Layering is still necessary (especially with the rain) but the layers – like jackets and scarves – need to be much lighter and easy to remove when the sun comes out.

Seasonal transitions are always difficult for me…especially when we go from winter to spring as I love layering and tend to wear a lot of black. But now that the sun is finally out, I’m starting to feel like a vampire. Time to lighten and brighten things up!

Read on for 6 easy ways to refresh your spring wardrobe:

White sneakers: Swap them out from whatever is currently on your feet. They’ll instantly freshen up any outfit, promise.

Nude duster coat: This is on my want list. Just a lightweight layer to replace the black winter version I wear on repeat. The duster coat streamlines any outfit and adds a bit of insta-chic without having to think too hard about it. Another nice alternative this season is the bomber jacket.

Leather jacket: Finally, I can wear my favourite Mackage (similar here) without layering jackets over top of it (I did this in the NYC blizzard – worked like a charm). Wear it with a tee and jeans or a dress and booties. You can never go wrong with this piece so I suggest investing in one you LOVE and finding ways to wear it all year long. You won’t regret this purchase!

Cropped denim: This trend has been going strong for awhile but with spring finally here, it’s a nice time to try it out if you haven’t already. With just a slightly different hemline and/or silhouette, it’s the freshest take on the one thing that will never go out of style (that being denim, of course). Time to put away those tried and true skinny jeans (at least a few days a week ). 🙂

Camisole dress: Also another on my want list…and odd that I don’t already own one. I definitely recommend wearing one underneath a slightly warmer layer like that nude trench or leather jacket and a pair of booties (it’s not Summer quite yet friends!).

Sunnies: Vancouver is grey pretty much all winter…but with the sun finally peeking out, it’s time to break out those sunnies. You can never go wrong with a classic pair (these are my favourites from The Optical Boutique).
