Saturday was our first day at New York Fashion Week SS16. The hustle and bustle of the shows was a quick adjustment…so getting around from venue to venue definitely proved to be quite challenging. Luckily we find solace in capturing street style, and as most of fashion week goers know too well, accidentally missing shows comes with the territory.
Given that it was our first day, we were having fun identifying new trends erupting in THE city where fashion comes to life…where every day is celebrated like fashion week. 🙂
Some standout trends on the streets included the 70’s revival that has been exploding this season. However, in New York, the trend is taken to new heights with suede knee high boots and side-slit skirts.
Shoulder draping seemed to be a must in lieu of celebrating fall but without fully committing in these ridiculously warm temps.
My favourite was the classic oxford shirt with an innovative twist: wide arms, open backs and gathered waists. These looks felt fresh and interesting yet totally classic.
We spotted a lot of bold eyewear that made many of these looks even more elevated.
The Banana Republic show was a nice way to cap off the night. We spotted a lot of familiar faces and our favourite brands and stores representing, including The Optical Boutique, Wardrobe Apparel, Alex S. Yu, Swap Watch, and Modaselle.
We’re seeing patterns in trends develop over the days so we’ll share more soon – Enjoy!
