I’m finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel…and that light is SPRING. It’s only 1 week away and the cherry blossoms are already rearing their pretty heads! Luckily for us, Vancouver tends to have mild winters..so aside from the rain, the transition is definitely not a daunting one. But, like any other season, I always find it awkward to make the switch…so here are three tips to make it easier:

1.) Layer up (lightly). Perhaps one of the most important things to remember in unpredictable temperatures, like Vancouver. A cardi, duster coat, and blanket scarf go a long way.

2.) Play with colour. You can put together an outfit nicely if you play with hue, saturation and/or brightness level of the colours. I’ve been obsessed with monochromatic looks all winter..but spring is the time to have fun. Trust your eye when developing colour palettes from scratch. Contrast gives your outfit visual appeal, while cohesion can be accomplished through a theme of shades.

3.) Go cropped and flared. Wear your loafers, booties, or sneakers with a simple tee or sweater and cropped denim. This is my favourite silhouette for 2016. Here are two of my favourite renditions: flared, cropped.

In lieu of spring just 1 week away, I wanted to share these unseen snaps that my girl Lucy and I took when the temps were a lot more bearable.

Lucy of Bey Unique styled the two of us in three different looks. I have to admit, it was so fun having someone else take the driving seat in choosing my outfits. Lucy went for laidback vibes and styled us in some of my favourite brands, like Alex S. Yu and Wildfox. These lighter layers will be perfect for the spring transition. Scroll down to see all three looks!
