The Vans Canada Van Doren Invitational was one of the most action-packed events we’ve attended in awhile. There were thousands of fans that gathered at the Hastings Skatepark last Saturday to watch top skateboarders from around the world battle it out for their piece at the $75,000 prize. But, as many of the competitors said, it didn’t feel like a competition. It was just a lot of fun.
Vancouver’s very own, Adam Hopkins made it to the finals and placed 5th in the competition. Scroll down to see some action shots of him, plus the other skateboarders. The final results can be found here but the real winner of the competition was their cute bulldog mascot.
Of course, the event wouldn’t be complete without a little street style photography…and there was no better place to capture streetwear. I loved the energy and positive attitude this crowd had toward being stopped for a photo. Because of that, we were able to capture the true spirit and culture of the event. Did you get scouted?
A big thank you to Vans Canada and Vans Skate for hosting this ridiculously fun event.
